Here are 5 home remedies that can lighten your elbows and knees and bring out their natural colour. 

Baking Soda + Milk 

Baking soda has bleaching properties, which can be really helpful in removing dead cells from the skin and milk moisturizes the skin. This combination is perfect to get rid of dark knees and elbows. 

How to Use: 

  • Take a tablespoon of baking soda and milk 
  • Mix the two until think consistency 
  • Apply on the dark elbows and knees 
  • Rub the paste for 2-3 minutes and wash it 
  • Do this every alternate day till the colour becomes even.

Aloe Vera + Yogurt 

Aloe vera is great for your skin as it hydrates the skin and improves its elasticity. Moreover, it also lightens the skin. When used with yogurt, aloe vera moisturizes, exfoliates and brightens dark elbows and knees. 

How to Use: 

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel with half a cup of yogurt
  • Spread it like a sheet on your knees and elbows 
  • Leave it for 30 minutes and rinse with warm water 
  • Do this twice a week for best results.

Turmeric + Lemon 

People have been using turmeric for skin lightening. The ingredient, curcumin, reduces the activity of melanin, which helps you get rid of the dark patches on your knees and elbows. 

How to Use: 

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of turmeric powder and a little lemon juice to form a thick paste 
  • Apply this paste on the dark areas 
  • Let it sit for 20 minutes before washing it off 
  • Do it on alternate days. 

Sugar + Olive Oil 

This is a pocket-friendly option to get rid of those dark knees and elbows. It acts as an exfoliant, which helps lighten the colour. It removes dead skin cells and dullness, and it gives you an amazing glow. 

How to Use: 

  • Mix equal amounts of sugar and olive oil 
  • Leave it for a couple of minutes 
  • Wash the scrub off 
  • After washing, apply some olive oil to moisturize. 

Coconut Oil + Lemon Juice 

Coconut is rich in vitamin E which helps lighten the skin and acts as a moisturizing agent.

How to Use: 

  • Mix one tablespoon of coconut oil and half a tablespoon of lemon juice 
  • Apply on your knees and elbows, and rub thoroughly 
  • Let it sit for 15 minutes and wipe it with a tissue.

Apple Cider Vinegar + Water 

Apple cider vinegar acts as a bleaching agent which helps in lightening the dark skin and brings it to its natural colour. 

How to Use: 

  • Take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and mix it well with water 
  • Apply it on the affected areas with a cotton swab 
  • Leave it for 15 minutes and rinse 
  • Do this 3-4 times for a week till you see a change in the colour.
